Individual Members

A person who works or has an interest in an area related to the field of sexology may apply for admission as an individual member.

If you have a registration to practice legally as a sexologist, medical doctor, educators, psychologist, nurse, physiotherapist, occupational therapist or hold a teaching or research position related to sexual health and sexual rights, you are eligible for individual membership.

If you are not a registered practitioner, teacher or researcher, you might still be eligible for individual membership, but more information will be required and assessed by the Membership Committee as well as the Advisory Committee.

Individual Membership Benefits 

  • Reduced registration fee to the biannual WAS congress;
  • Free subscription to WAS Newsletter published 4 times per year;
  • Free subscription to the International Journal of Sexual Health;
  • Reduced subscription rates to the journal Sexual and Relationship Therapy;
  • The opportunity to publish articles in the WAS Newsletter;
  • The opportunity to announce upcoming events to WAS members (via Facebook, website banners and mailing);
  • Individual members are eligible to attend the General Assembly and participate in discussions but are not eligible to cast a vote.

Individuals applying for membership via WAS website must send:

1. Registration form
2. Copy of professional University diploma and any post graduate courses or degrees in sexual health and/or rights
3. Statement that the individual will comply with the ethical principles of WAS:

a. Guiding Ethical Principles (PDF)
b. WAS Declaration of Sexual Rights (PDF)

4. Personal letter stating why WAS membership is desired and will be beneficial for the individual.

 

5. Once we have received all documents and accepted your application, we will send an Invoice for the annual fee of 75 USD.

All new individual members from Africa and the list of least developed countries. will pay only 25 USD in 2021

Societies, Institutes and Other Organizations

A society or institute whose main interest is in the area of sexology may apply for admission as a member.

Society Membership Benefits 

  • Reduced registration fee to the biannual WAS congress;
  • Free subscription to WAS Newsletter published 4 times per year;
  • Free subscription to the International Journal of Sexual Health;
  • Reduced subscription rates to the Journal Sexual and Relationship Therapy;
  • The opportunity to publish articles in the WAS Newsletter;
  • The opportunity to announce upcoming events to WAS members (via Facebook, website banners and mailing);
  • Participation and voting rights at the WAS General Assembly.

The application should include the completed form and have attached the following material:

  1. The name of the organization
  2. The date of its formation
  3. Its purpose and objectives
  4. Its Statutes and Bylaws
  5. The names of its members and officers with email adresses
  6. One-page report of the activities especially in last year and plan for next year
  7. Social media links
  8. Statement that the society, institute or organisation will comply with the ethical principles of WAS:

    4. International Standards of Practice for Sexual Counselors and Sexual Psychotherapists (PDF)

    6. WAS Declaration of Sexual Rights (PDF)
  9. Two letters of recommendation from colleagues respected in the field of sexual health

ALL New Organizational members from Africa and countries from the list of least developed countries (UN) will pay only 80 USD in 2021

Students

WAS favours membership of students, since they will form the next WAS generation.

Students Membership Benefits

  • Reduced subscription rates to the Journal Sexual and Relationship Therapy;
  • The opportunity to publish articles in the WAS Newsletter;
  • The opportunity to announce upcoming events to WAS members (via Facebook, website banners and mailing);
  • Students members are eligible to attend the General Assembly and participate in discussions but are not eligible to cast a vote.

Students may apply for admission as individual members, but their application must include:

    1. Evidence of current full time enrollment in a recognized university
    2. Curriculum vitae
    3. Two letters of recommendation
    4. Personal letter stating why WAS membership is desired and will be beneficial for the individual.
    5. Statement that the individual will comply with the ethical principles of WAS:

    7. Annual fee (25 USD)

When the documentation is received and approved by the WAS Executive Committee, provisional member status is granted till the next WAS General Assembly. To retain the student membership status, evidence of current enrollment has to be sent every year at the time of dues payment. Student members do not have a vote in the WAS General Assembly.
