Invitation to XIX Latin American Congress of Sexology and Sexual Education

30 years after “1988 – 2018” from IV to XIX CLASES reissuing a wonderful experience in Buenos Aires

In Honor of Dr. León Roberto Gindin

The Argentine Society of Human Sexuality (SASH-ARG) invites you to participate in the XIX Latin American Congress of Sexology and Sexual Education, whose motto is “Eroticism and Sexuality: Challenges in the clinic and education” to be held in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires – Argentina on September 26, 27, 28 and 29, 2018.

Together with us, the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) and with the support of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, will offer us its full support and facilities for the realization of the same.

Renowned sexologists from: Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia, Chile; Paraguay. Portugal, Puerto Rico, Republican Dominican, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela, México, Spain, as well as from our provinces from Argentina, belonging to societies such as FLASSES, WAS. SLAMS, AISM, will be speakers and members of the Scientific Committee at this congress. This makes us feel that we are on the right path of plurality, diversity and federalism, articulating Sex Education, Clinical Sexology and Social Sexology, which are the challenges of the 21st century.

Our challenge for 2018 is to achieve the interaction of all disciplines that make up sexology, as well as to deepen strategies and tools in the development of therapies and especially preventive measures to live a full sexuality. Enjoying sexuality is fundamental to achieving an optimal quality of life and developing as a happy and successful individual in our society. That is why studies and progress in this area are important.

Sexology is a branch of the sciences referring to the interdisciplinary human body, since it deals with the neurosciences in their physiology and physiopathology, as well as psychology, sociology and human relations.

To hold international meetings with top-level professionals dedicated to the study and research of these subjects is to have a space for the exchange and growth of sexology and related disciplines.

The dissemination of sexual rights and sexual physiology is essential, as is the training of non-specialist professionals in this field, since it covers all medical, psychological and pedagogical specialties.

The opening phrase belongs to Dr. Leon Roberto Gindin (1938-2017) who as President of Latin American Federation of Sexology and Sex Education Societies (FLASSES) and Founder of Argentine Society of Human Sexuality (SASH-ARG). He dreamed of this meeting occurring again in Buenos Aires, and came to realize its success. It will be a tribute to his undoubted contribution to sexual knowledge and its dissemination.

Finally, we invite you accompanied by Dr. Rafael García Alvarez – as current president of FLASSES –  to participate as listeners, as well as to present your experience in the form of conferences and works, to make new friends, to establish social and scientific networks between remote or nearby regions and, fundamentally, to enjoy the pleasure of being able to celebrate a new congress.

Each participant is the maker of this encounter, and those who act as members of the national and international scientific committees optimize the opportunities for relationships with colleagues in sexology, ensuring opportunities for updating knowledge and multidisciplinary developments in a mythical city – as Jorge Luis Borges says:

“I am told that Buenos Aires began: I judge it as eternal as water and air.”

WELCOME, we look forward to welcoming you with open arms on behalf of all colleagues working in this organization.
